India has announced a Special Economic Package for Mauritius, highlighting its commitment to international collaboration and sustainable development. This initiative focuses on strengthening healthcare, infrastructure, and renewable energy, reflecting a holistic approach to growth partnerships.
In healthcare, India is set to launch the first Jan Aushadhi Kendra abroad, alongside a 500-bed national hospital, an AYUSH Centre of Excellence, and advanced veterinary facilities. These measures aim to improve accessibility, quality of care, and overall public health infrastructure in Mauritius, showcasing India’s expertise in capacity building.
Infrastructure development is another key component. Plans include the expansion of highways, upgrades to port facilities, and the construction of a new Air Traffic Control tower at SSR Airport, which will enhance connectivity and support long-term economic growth in the region.
The package also emphasizes sustainability, with initiatives such as a floating solar power project and cooperation in local currency trade, promoting green energy adoption and financial stability. By integrating capacity building, renewable energy, and trade cooperation, India is reinforcing development as a cornerstone of its diplomatic engagement.
